SPANISH Traditions and Festivals

Traditional Festivals in Spain

Our 4th Primary classes researched some of Spain's
most famous festivals and the traditions that they include.
They then created explanatory posters with fancy titles,
colorful images and text to summarize their findings
about the typical customs, costumes, dishes, dances,
music and (sometimes) mayhem that one can experience
in these traditional, local celebrations.

Here are a few photos of their projects, hanging in
our corridors at Colegio Internacional Ausias March.
If you're interested in knowing more, here is a web page link
that we used for our research.

In Spain, traditions reign supreme.
We think that these traditions need to be maintained,
respected and taught to future generations, as a way
of learning about our important past.

(Plus, who doesn't like a party, am I right?)

CIAM Visita al Parque Infantil de Tráfico

Our 4th Primary groups learned about road safety
and first aid at the Parque Infantil de Tráfico
in the Viveros Park in Valencia.
We appreciate the course, the patience and the
explanations that our Traffic Safety guides offered us.

What's the matter with MATTER?

Everything is made out of MATTER.
MATTER can exist in three physical states: SOLID, LIQUID or GAS.
All MATTER has mass (or weight) and volume (occupies space).

MATTER can undergo a CHANGE OF STATE
when the physical state changes but the matter or substance stays the same.
(Solid ice melts into liquid water;
liquid water evaporates into gaseous water vapour;
 water vapour condenses into liquid water;
and liquid water solidifies into solid ice.)

MATTER can also undergo a CHEMICAL REACTION
when the substance permanently changes into a different substance(s).
(Oxidation and Conbustion are examples of chemical reactions.)

MATERIALS are substances we use for making things.
Two classifications of materials are: NATURAL or MAN-MADE.
We choose materials that have useful properties, such as:
STRONG and RESISTANT (steel, concrete)
FLEXIBLE (leather, paper)
ELASTIC (rubber, some plastics)
TRANSPARENT (glass, some plastics)
LIGHT and RESISTANT (aluminium)
FRAGILE (ceramics)
